Kuifie in Africa; Khwai Tales, A time to reflect, Okavango, Botswana, Africa,

This little story goes out to my friends, battling daily tasks.

It is saddening to hear and see how many people are struggling these days.

I admire my friends for dealing with day in day out responsibilities. Because we have to.

My life would be nothing without you.

Physically. Mentally. Financially. Family. Friendly. Naturally.

There is always something else thrown at us.

Life has become more demanding.

Life is more expensive.

Anxiety. Depression. Stress.

Life is absolutely crazy. Society is unsocial.

As I am sitting here gazing at nature’s marvel, reflecting on the past, the present, and the future, I can’t stop wondering.

How did it come to this? Our planet is in dire straits and won’t recover from the damage we have done.

Wake me up when it’s all over, when I am wiser and I am older,

All this time finding myself, didn’t know I was lost.

I often lose myself staring into reminiscing waters as my mind starts wandering.

Mirror mirror on the hole, who is the luckiest of them all?

I sure had a great run over the past 56 years. Hardly any issues to deal with. Cruising from one adventure to the next. One country to another without any bother. I am the luckiest man alive. I live the life many people dream of. I live a life without commitments, a life without responsibilities. Often a lonelily life. But I am not. I know I have friends near and far, at home or in a bar. My happy-go-lucky energy wouldn’t be the same without the people I met along this long and winding road and the friendships I made. This much I know.

Most of my many friends are at the same age, give or take a few years.

We were the lucky ones. We were the happy ones. We were the dynamic ones. Full of energy. Full of thrive. Full of vitality da vida.

Happy to explore. Excited to venture into the unknown.

Full of testosterone after a game of footy with your mates. Bicycles.

None of our friends were called Siri. Google meant perving on Baywatch.

The Simpsons screened before the 6 o’clock news.

Your favorite band released a new album after a long 4-week wait. Simply the best music ever, played with actual instruments.

Telephones had only one ringtone. Waiting for your sister to get off the landline.

Photos were dropped off and picked up days later.

AI was unknown to the I am.

We are able to read and write with pen and paper. Autocorrect was a slap from behind.

No virtual bullying from the cool kids. Shite was sorted out after school.

There and then @Khwai River, Okavango, Botswana, Africa

The best time ever in human history. The best time ever in my history.

If we could turn back time? I wish we could.

What would we do then if we knew how the future unfolds? What would you do different?

It’s often hard to see the bright side of life but i hope you do.

There are millions other people worse off than you.

For now, there is always hope. We need to march on, no matter what.

I will still be moving from here to there and hope that you have the time to catch a glimpse of the natural world.

Mother Nature still is spectacular.

  1. So very true Ben.

I was only commenting yesterday about being born in the best time, the best generation.

We did not have the post WW2 shortages and stresses that our Grandparents and parents dealt with, and we don’t have the pressures of the current generation to act, perform and appear perfect 24/7.

Growing up in the era when we did was great. We probably didn’t realise it at the time but looking back now we can appreciate what we had then.
