Rare opportunity @ Central Queensland, Australia
It doesn’t happen often that I get a good photo opportunity for some close-up captures of parrots. Even if I did, I would still try my luck. These chances often appear at most unexpected times and places. As it took place today.

Collecting troops @ Davies Creek Falls, Northern Tropical Queensland, Australia
I had driven troopy a few hundred kilometres through central Queensland heat already and fatigue was sneaking into body and soul. A few kilometres north of Rockhampton a rest stop invited me for a pause. Request accepted. A historic farmhouse bordered directly the spacious area, which got me curious, naturally. Plenty of chickens and ducks, dogs and even a huge sow roamed the paddock. How cool! I could already hear the unmistakable sounds of cockatoos and galahs.

The brisk breeze lifted the cockato’s feathers like Marylin Monroe’s skirt.

A pair of galahs came down for look over the hedge. They were quickly scared off by playful dogs, chasing a thrown ball.

What’s with the racket? @ Central Queensland, Australia
The white cockatoos had an inquisitive look about the commotion, but were hungry enough to stay. Phew.

The low setting sun threw a hunch of orange over the cockattoo’s plumage.

I was happy with my photo session as it was time to move on. A physical and mental break from a monotone drive along the Highway was just what the doctor ordered.

I smiled from ear to ear, as I drove along a striking red Central Queensland sunset. Just because.
